99Imperial Distribution Ltd wants 99imperialcashandcarry.co.uk to be usable by as many people as possible, including buyers using a screen reader, magnification, speech recognition, or a keyboard alone. This statement sets out honestly where we are.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML throughout, with one h1 per page and headings in order.
- Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring and a skip-to-content link.
- Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA for body text, headings and buttons.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced to screen readers.
- The catalogue result count is a live region, so filtering is announced.
- Images carry alt text; decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
- Text reflows to 320px and can be zoomed to 200% without loss of content.
- Animation is disabled for anyone with prefers-reduced-motion set.
- The site works without JavaScript for reading and for the contact form.
Where we fall short
We would rather tell you than have you find out:
Product images are placeholders
Cards currently show a generic icon rather than product photography. This is a content gap, not a barrier, but real images will need meaningful alt text when added.
No formal audit has been carried out
The points above are from our own testing, not an independent assessment. We have not yet been audited against WCAG 2.2 by a third party.
Quantity steppers rely on small controls
The plus and minus buttons on the catalogue meet the minimum target size but are tighter than we would like on small screens. Typing a quantity directly works as an alternative.
Our obligations
As a service provider we have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage. If something on this site prevents you from trading with us, that is a problem we want to fix, and we will find another way to serve you in the meantime.
Tell us about a problem
Email biz@99imperial.co.uk and tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We aim to reply within one working day. You can always place an order with us by email or over the phone instead of through the site.
